REPORT

6.1A
Page 1

January 7, 2008

SUBJECT
Amendment No.1 to the Professional Services Agreement with BKF Engineers for the
Belmont Slough Outfall Improvement Project.

RECOMMENDATION
Approve, by motion, Amendment NO.1 for $25,389.00 to the Agreement with BKF
Engineers ("Agreemenr) for consulting engineering and design services for the Belmont
Slough Outfall Improvement Project.

BACKGROUND
On August 12, 2005, the City entered into agreement with BKF Engineers to provide
design work and prepare construction drawings and specifications for improvements to
the Belmont Slough Outfall pump station in the amount of $62,523.00. Improvements
include the addition of mechanical pumps that will compensate for silt build up in the
Belmont Slough by forcing water out of the lagoon which is required for the adequate
maintenance of the storm and lagoon systems in Redwood Shores. The design has
been re-engineered to reduce construction costs and the proposed amendment
provides for revisions to the construction documents and construction services if
necessary. The total contract value for this project is increased to $87,912.00.

ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve the proposed amendment which could result in the
delay of much needed improvements and compromise the storm and lagoon systems in
Redwood Shores.

FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding has been appropriated for the proposed amendment in the Fiscal
Year 2007-2008 Budget, GID 1-64 Facilities, Belmont Slough Pump Station.

~~ Jl-.
