Redwood
City has provided water service to the existing residence on the parcel since at least
1999. Further development of the parcel requires a new water connection and service
from the City. The County of San Mateo is processing an application for proposed
subdivision and new single family home that requires water service from the City. The
watermain which currently serves the existing residence is of adequate size to provide
additional service to the proposed new residence.

Staff recommends that the City request LAFCo approval to extend water service outside
jurisdictional boundaries pursuant to Government Code Section 56133. LAFCo requires
Council approval, by resolution, of requests that the City makes to LAFCo for
extensions of service. The proposed water service extension will provide water
connection and service to the newly subdivided lot located at 215 Sylvan Way.
Extension of service is subject to the following conditions and fees.

1. LAFCo approval of the application for the proposed extension of water service;
2. Property owner's payment of the City's water service annexation fees when request
is made for service extension;
3. Property owner's payment of LAFCo fees;
4. After approval of the construction drawings by the San Mateo County Building
Department and upon application for new water service, property owner's payment
of all applicable Redwood City fees, including connection fees and construction
costs associated with providing proposed water service extension.

AL TERNA TNES
Council may choose not to approve. application to LAFCo for the extension of service
which would result in the denial of water connection and service to a newly subdivided
lot.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the City.
