<br />88 <br />Page 40 <br /> <br />Back2round - Fair Oaks Librarv <br /> <br />The Fair Oaks Library opened in 1974, as part of Redwood City's Fair Oaks Community <br />Center. It serves the Spanish-speaking community in the unincorporated North Fair Oaks <br />area and also 5,095 Redwood City residents. In 1995, the Fair Oaks Library moved to a <br />larger facility, shared with the San Mateo County Human Services Agency. The facility <br />now operates in partnership with the Joint Powers Authority of the San Mateo County <br />Public Library. The Fair Oaks Library is a bilingual branch of the Redwood City Public <br />Library. In Redwood City, the Fair Oaks Community Center which is located adjacent to <br />the Fair Oaks Library, offers a wealth of community services, including information and <br />referral. <br /> <br />Redwood City Public Library Mission Statement <br /> <br />"The Redwood City Public Library is the learning center of our community and the place <br />people turn to for the discovery of ideas, the joy of reading and the power of information. <br />Community needs drive our services and we take a personal interest in ensuring that they <br />are delivered in a welcoming, convenient and responsive manner." <br /> <br />Demo2raphics and Trends - North Fair Oaks Area <br /> <br />The Fair Oaks Library serves the Latino population in the unincorporated North Fair <br />Oaks area of Redwood City within San Mateo County, including a portion of East Palo <br />residents. It also serves the largest concentration of Latino residents in the City of <br />Redwood City. This area begins in Redwood City south of Chestnut Street on the north <br />end and continues up to 5th A venue on the south end; on the east, it includes Broadway. <br />Rolison Road and the Taft School area. On the west side, it includes a small pocket of <br />streets behind the Target store area.
