The committee, consisting of Vice Mayor Foust
and Council member Howard, began that process this year and their
recommendation to amend the City's charter with respect to the terms of office for
your respective board members was then placed on the November 2007 ballot.

The committee is seeking the advice and thoughts of your respective boards with
respect to improving the City's charter in order that the charter remains a valuable
and informative constitution for the people of Redwood City. To that end, the
committee has outlined the following path to be taken to initiate discussion
regarding the relevant City charter provisions:

First, each member of the City Council will be asked to provide a list of
topics or issues pertinent to the Library and Port as established in
sections 19 and 47 et seq of the City charter.

Second, each list will then be compiled and forwarded to you.

Third, each board will be asked to respond to the identified topics or issues
by way of a written report. Such a report should include such matters which
each board feels would improve the city charter.
