Registered borrowers <br />Adult <br />Children <br /> <br />100,241 <br />10,369 <br />5,970 <br />4.399 <br /> <br />Communitv InputIFocus Groups <br /> <br />A series of three, 2-hour focus group sessions were held in April 2006, to gather input <br />from community leaders, library staff, and community members, respectively, in <br />preparation for developing a strategic vision and service plan for the Fair Oaks Library. <br />A final 2-hour focus group session, comprised of _ a cross-spectrum of 22 community <br />leaders, library customers and library staff was held on June 29, 2006, to select priorities <br />for a strategic vision for the Fair Oaks Library. Focus group participants voted on the top <br />services that the Library should continue; top priorities for short-term and long-term <br />goals; and top priorities for immediate next steps. Participants selected the following as <br />short-term goals, some of which are already in place: <br /> <br />. Friendly bilingual stafT <br />. Bicultural staff <br />. Bilingual books <br />. More bilingual story times <br />. Programs <br />o Computer classes in Spanish <br />o Cultural programs <br />o Programs that are a big draw (Las Posadas, Day ofthe Dead, etc.) <br />o Homework assistance <br />o Special events and other library programs on Saturdays <br />o Virtual education <br />o Literacy programs for adults and children in Spanish and English <br />o More programs for adults and teenagers <br />. More computers <br />. Expanded Project READ services <br />. Open more hours <br />. Outreach to the community <br /> <br />As long-term goals, the participants selected: <br /> <br />. Bigger building <br />. Mobile library services <br />
