<br />7A <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />Secs. 9.143- 9.148. RESERVED <br /> <br />SECTION 8. Sections 9.152, 9.153, and 9.168 of Article IX of Chapter 9 of the <br />Redwood City Code are hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"ARTICLE IX. SEISMIC REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Sec. 9.152. STRUCTURAL DESIGN: All structural design shall be in <br />accordance with the International Building Code, 2006 Edition, including lateral force <br />provisions for wind and earthquake. <br />(Ord. No. 2241. 97, 12-5-2002) <br /> <br />Sec. 9.153. FOUNDATION SYSTEMS: Foundation systems shall consist of <br />mat, grill, piles or a similar system with a demonstrated ability to resist differential <br />settlement and for tying the foundation elements together. Foundation design shall be <br />in accordance with the International Building Code, 2006 edition. <br />(Ord. No. 2241, 97.12-5-2002) <br /> <br />Sec. 9.168. ENGINEERING REPORTS: Owners of unreinforced masonry <br />buildings in the City, except as exempted below, shall submit an engineering report <br />complying with the provisions of Section 9.145 of this Division to the Building Official in <br />order to determine the existence, nature, extent and severity of structural deficiencies of <br />said buildings with respect to the capacity thereof to withstand the effects of <br />earthquakes. Notwithstanding the foregoing, owners of the following structures shall be <br />exempt from the aforesaid requirement: <br /> <br />A. Residential structures comprising five (5) or fewer dwelling units; <br /> <br />B. Warehouses or similar structures not used for human habitation except for <br />warehouses or structures housing emergency services equipment or supplies; and <br /> <br />C. Buildings which have been structurally revised substantially in accordance <br />with the 1973, or a later, edition of the Uniform Building Code, the 2000, or later edition <br />of the International Building Code, or the proviSions of division 88 of the Standards for <br />Unreinforced Masonry Buildings of the City of Los Angeles, California (a copy of which <br />is on file in the office of the building official). <br />(Ord. No. 2004, 97,12-4-1989; Ord. No. 2241, 9. 12-5-2002) <br /> <br />SECTION 9. All former ordinances or parts thereof conflicting or inconsistent with the <br />provisions of this ordinance or of the Code hereby adopted. are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 10. If any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance or of the <br />Code hereby adopted should for any reason, be found invalid, it is intended that all <br />other portions of this ordinance independent of any such portion as may be declared <br />invalid shall be valid. <br /> <br />Atty/Ord/Ord.291 <br />120307 <br /> <br />10 <br />
