7.B. - Page 1 of 15 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: November 25, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Public hearing to review and receive comments on Redwood City Water Utility Section 2019 Public Health <br />Goal Report <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Hold a public hearing; receive and acknowledge comments from the public on the report and refer any <br />comments to the Public Works Services Department for response and further consideration as <br />appropriate. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Redwood City is required by the California Health and Safety Code to prepare a brief report <br />regarding the public water system when it detects one or more contaminants in drinking water exceeding <br />the applicable public health goal (PHG). A PHG is a non -enforceable goal established by the California <br />Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), and is <br />not to be confused with a Maximum Contaminant Level or an Action Level. An Maximum Contaminant <br />Level is the enforceable level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water as established by the <br />United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California State Water Resources Control <br />Board Division of Drinking Water (DDW).
