What is a public health goal?
It is the level of a contaminant in drinking water that does not pose a significant risk to human health.
Public health Goals are not regulatory standards
An important fact about PHGs is that There might not be technology available that can treat water to remove a contaminant to the PHG level,
Additionally It might not be economically feasible to provide the treatment.
Per the California Health and Safety Code a report must be prepared every 3 years to educate and inform the public if any PHG are exceeded.
The 2016 Public Health Goal Report prepared by Public Works contains two contaminants which were detected including
-LEAD and HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM.
