01/14/2008 WHEREAS, the changes and additions to the Code, which are proposed to be made clarify the Codes and in certain instances, impose more stringent protection requirements than are required by the Codes and include: (1) improved bracing; (2) special structural provisions for Younger Bay Mud area; (3) prohibition on metallic piping and electrical conduit in certain areas; and (4) more fire resistive roofing; WHEREAS, Section 17958.7 of the California Health and Safety Code requires insofar as such changes and additions relate to apartment houses, hotels, motels and dwellings, and buildings and structures accessory thereto, that the governing body of a city, before making any changes and additions, shall make an express finding that such changes and additions are reasonably necessary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. In connection with the adoption of that certain ordinance entitled, "Ordinance Repealing Articles IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII of Chapter 9 of the Code of the City of Redwood City; Amending Articles II, III, and IX; and Adding Articles IV, VI, VII, and VIII of Chapter 9 to the Code of the City of Redwood City Relating to the Establishment of Regulations and Standards for Buildings and Structures in the City of Redwood City and Adopting by Reference the Following Codes: 'The International Building Code, 2006 Edition,' 'The International Property Maintenance Code, 2006 Edition'; 'The Uniform Mechanical Code, 2006 Edition'; 'The Uniform Plumbing Code, 2006 Edition'; 'The International Code Council Electrical Code Administrative Provisions'; and 'The National Electrical Code, 2005 Edition,' (the "Ordinance")" it is hereby expressly found and determined that modifications, deletions, and additions made to the Codes as set Atty/Reso/Reso.1756 120407 2 14827 Muff # 305
