<br />Michael Garvey, consultant to the Grand Boulevard Initiative, presented further <br />background and talked about the process to date. He noted that 23 agencies <br />control different parts of EI Camino Real. <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce stated her appreciation to Mr. Garvey for his leadership in <br />pulling everyone together in developing the guidelines. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust thanked Council Member Pierce for serving as the Council <br />representative on the Policy-Setting Task Force. <br /> <br />Council Member Hartnett thanked Mr. Garvey and Council Member Pierce for their <br />many hours of work on this initiative. <br /> <br />MIS HartnettlBain to: <br />Approve, by resolution, adoption of the ten guiding principles of the Grand <br />Boulevard Initiative and the intention to incorporate them into future plans involving <br />EI Camino Real. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 14826 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF THE GRAND BOULEVARD <br />INITIATIVE AND DIRECTING STAFF TO INCORPORATE THEM INTO FUTURE PLANS <br />OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY INVOLVING EL CAMINO REAL. <br /> <br />The motion passed by unanimous roll call vote by those present. <br /> <br />Council Member Pierce shared two awards and certificates that the City of <br />Redwood City recently received. She stated that, as part of the Grand Boulevard <br />Initiative and as incentives for different communities to move forward and set the <br />guiding principles for what will happen, there were projects and elements that were <br />chosen as visionary in terms of approach and specific projects on what the Grand <br />Boulevard might look like. Redwood City was presented with two awards: one for a <br />visionary Downtown Precise Plan along with certificates of appreciation from <br />Senator Tom Lantos, Assembly Member Ira Ruskin, and Senator Joe Simitian. She <br />stated that the Villa Montgomery Project was also recognized as an excellent <br />vanguard private project. <br /> <br />Mike Garvey stated that there were six awards presented this year and Redwood <br />City received two of them. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust thanked staff, Council Member Pierce, and the community for their <br />contributions and she stated that the awards will be displayed publicly. <br /> <br />B.
