If such deposits cannot be avoided, the adverse effects shall be mitigated in accordance with the recommendations of the arche- ologist. If data recovery excavation is appropriate, the excavation must be guided by a data recovery plan prepared by a qualified archaeologist and adopted by the City of Redwood City/School District prior to beginning the data recovery work. A report of findings shall be submitted to the project sponsor/School District, the City of Redwood City, and the Northwest InfOlmation Center (CCR Title 14(3) Section 15I26.4(b}P)(C)). CUL-3: If paleontologIcal resources are identified within the project area during ground-disturbing activities, all work within at least 25 feet of the discovery shall be halted and a qualified paleontologist contacted to evaluate the finds and make recorrunen- dations. Ifthe qualified paleontologist determines that the materials are not signiflcant, no further protection is necessary. If such paleontological resources are found to be significant, they should be avoided by project activities. If avoidance is not feasible, adverse effects to such paleontological resources should be mitigated. Upon completion of the paleontological assessment, a report should be prepared documenting the methods and results, as well as recom- mendations. The City/School District shall require implementation of the recommendations of the report. The report shall be submitted to the University of California, Berkeley, Museum of Paleontology {UeM?) and..~~.~City. a. b.
