We recognize that achieving these goals regtiiires a range of approaches and tools, including
increasing the use of energy-efficient electric appliances in buildings. PG&E supports local
government policies that promote all -electric Ilew COnStrliCti011 aIld has processes in place to slake
our electric grid ready for all -electric new construction load.
PG&E continuously forecasts load in its service territory and implements upgrades to the distribution
grid to meet increased demand. These distribution -level forecasts are based on known applications
for service as well as California Energy Commission electrification and climate -change load growth
projections. Each request fon' new or increased service is evaluated to determine if site-specific
distribution upgrades etre required. PG&E fully expects to sleet the needs that all -electric buildings
will require.
Impacts to the electric distribution system from new load is accounted for during the annual load
forecasting process. Most of the impacts stemming from new all electric construction or infills will
be on the service transformer and secondary system. When customers request a new electric service
or notilj, PG&E that they are increasing their electric load, PG&E assesses existing facilities to
ensure they are adequate for the increase iii load. In addition, Per CPUC Tariffs, PG&E is required
to provide service voltage within a specified range (Rule 2.C. l .a). Therefore, each request for new or
increased load requires site-specific engineering and evaluation to ensure that proper voltage is
maintained on the electric system. If requested, we can provide more specific information on growth
and the local electric grid in Redwood City.
PG&E looks forward to continuing to work with the city of Redwood City to accomplish its policy
goals.
Sincerely,
Satvir Nagra
Manager, Electric Drstrlbuti011 Planning
Cc: Melissa Stevenson -Diaz, Mark Muenzer
535
