8.B. - Page 43 of 70 <br />Redwood City Broadway Streetcar/Urban Circulator Study <br />Summary Report <br />Existing Conditions <br />An existing conditions analysis evaluated the current transit <br />and traffic operations, surrounding land uses, demographics <br />and other relevant characteristics along the corridor and in <br />the Project Study Area. <br />Traffic Operations and Roadway <br />Characteristics <br />■ The lane widths for most of the streets under <br />consideration are sufficient and compatible with the <br />inclusion of a streetcar or urban circulator, although <br />Broadway in the downtown has only one -lane in each <br />direction. <br />■ In many locations, a small reduction in on -street <br />parking would result from implementation of a <br />streetcar. <br />■ Current conditions along potential corridor <br />intersections generally meet the City's traffic level of <br />service standards, with the exception of the <br />Woodside Road (SR-84)/Broadway intersection, which <br />has a level of service F during peak periods. It was also <br />observed that Broadway in the downtown area <br />becomes congested at times. <br />Smith <br />Transit Service <br />■ The Redwood City Streetcar corridor would connect to <br />Caltrain service at the Transit Center. Private employer shuttles also serve the area <br />including a Kaiser Permanente campus shuttle which <br />will go to the Transit Center on request (per the Kaiser <br />Page 7 <br />586 <br />
