6.H. - Page 1 of 10 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: February 10, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Waive second reading and adopt an ordinance creating mandatory campaign contribution limits and <br />voluntary expenditure limits <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Waive the second reading and adopt an ordinance adding City Code Chapter 2, Article X, relating to <br />campaign contribution limits and voluntary expenditure limits. as proposed by the City Council <br />Governance Sub -Committee. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />On January 27, 2020, the City Council, by a unanimous vote, introduced an ordinance that would add a <br />campaign contribution limit and a voluntary expenditure limit. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The contribution limit and voluntary expenditure limit each contain specified penalties for violations. The <br />proposed ordinance would apply to candidates for elective City office.
