6.D. - Page 1 of 5 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: February 10, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Installation of stop signs on Warren Street at Howland Street <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />From the City Manager <br />Adopt a resolution approving the installation of stop signs on Warren Street at its intersection with <br />Howland Street. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />Residents have expressed concerns with traffic safety at the intersection of Warren Street and Howland <br />Street. Currently, Howland Street is two-way stop -controlled and Warren Street is uncontrolled. <br />Resident concerns are related to right-of-way conflicts at the intersection and the difficulty pedestrians <br />and bicyclists have crossing Warren Street at Howland Street during peak hours. After receiving these <br />concerns, staff evaluated the intersection conditions for all -way stop control according to local and state <br />standards. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The intersection of Warren Street and Howland Street is adjacent to an entrance of Mezes Park, a location <br />that generates high pedestrian activity.
