6.E. - Page 2 of 6
ANALYSIS
On February 24, 2020, the City Council introduced an Ordinance amending Section 32.132 of the Municipal
Code regarding business license tax exemptions for veterans. If adopted, this Ordinance will take effect
30 days after this action (April 8, 2020).
FISCAL IMPACT
Currently, no businesses are exempt due to veteran status. Therefore, the City will experience no
immediate fiscal impact. Future impact is expected to be minimal.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting
ALTERNATIVES
This law applies to all cities throughout the state, including Redwood City. If the City Council chooses not
to authorize the amendment to RCMC 32.132, the City would be in violation of state law.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A — Ordinance amending Section 32.132 relating to business license tax exemption for
veterans
Attachment B — AB 498
REPORT PREPARED BY:
Jun Nguyen, Revenue Services Manager
jnguyen@redwoodcity.org
(650)780-7213
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
248
