IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Directors strongly <br />supports rapid and effective legislative action by the City Councils of Atherton, <br />Belmont, Redwood City, Portola Valley, San Carlos, Woodside, Menlo Park, <br />Foster City, and San Mateo, the County of San Mateo, and the California State <br />Legislature, under their regulatory authority, including expansion of San Mateo <br />County's Tobacco Retailer Licensing program, and increased enforcement <br />action to prevent youth access including: <br />1. Prohibiting the sale and distribution of flavored tobacco products; <br />2. Prohibiting the sale and distribution of e -cigarettes and other electronic <br />smoking devices; <br />3. Prohibiting the sale of all tobacco products in pharmacies; <br />4. Reducing the concentration and density of tobacco retailers; and <br />Prohibiting a tobacco retailer license from being issued to or renewed for <br />a business operating within 1,000 feet of a school or other youth sensitive <br />area. <br />IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Directors and the staff of <br />Sequoia Healthcare District shall continue their efforts to combat the use of <br />flavored tobacco products, e -cigarettes, and other electronic smoking devices <br />by youth residing in the District, including educational programs offered in local <br />schools through the District's Healthy Schools Initiative, and outreach to all <br />District residents informing them about the dangers of these products.
