As I read it, the ban would prevent the sale of vaping products in Redwood
City. I am in support of that, and further, would like to see the public use of vaping products banned in our
city.
My husband and I walked downtown on Sunday, March 8, and had lunch at Tartine. As we headed home, a
man passed by us on Broadway near City Hall using a vaping device and we were suddenly walking through a
cloud of his exhaled vaping air. The smell was unpleasant and I don't like being exposed to his vaping product
as I am walking down a public street in our city. Please consider banning the sale and public use of vaping
products in Redwood City. (Now with the COVID-19 issue, I don't think any of us want to walk through a
cloud of someone else's exhaled air.)
As we know, Californians are now allowed to buy and use marijuana. When the proposition was on the ballot,
voters were told users would not be allowed to smoke in public. But when we are downtown in the summer on
Friday evenings, or are going to a restaurant, or are walking out of the theatre in the evening, we often smell
marijuana on the street. Recently, someone walked right passed us smoking marijuana and blowing smoke on
the street. We have to put up with people vaping on the street as well. Please consider banning the use of these
products in public so those of us who choose not to use them and don't like the smell are not forced to tolerate
secondhand smoke.
Thank you for reading this and considering my position on the banning issue.
Sincerely,
Linda Dulaney
