The Property is within the City's water service area and
sphere of influence, but outside the City's jurisdictional boundaries. The owner of the parcel has applied
to San Mateo County for approval to construct a new single-family home on the Property. As a condition
of approval, the County requires the property owner to secure a new water connection and service from
the City for the proposed residence.
The water main that runs along the frontage is not adequately sized to provide service to the proposed
residence. The existing 4" diameter water main was constructed in 1938. The owner will be required to
construct a water main extension to current standards in accordance with City Code Section 38.26. The
owner obtained an encroachment permit from the City to install the new water main. Construction began
in September 2019 and is expected to be complete in early 2020.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
