Summary
Continue to evaluate and develop cost-effective treatment strategies for the maintenance of pavement in-
frastructure. Proceed with overlays on Twin Dolphin Drive, Chestnut Street, Middlefield Road, Warwick
Street, and Spring Street.
Background
The Roadway Management Program addresses ongoing roadway pavement repair and replacement needs.
The program inventories, assesses, and tracks maintenance of the City's roadways. Each year, streets are
prepared for resurfacing with crack sealing and spot repairs before being resurfaced with an "overlay,"
"cape seal," or "slurry seal."
Upcoming projects include an overlay and cape seal project. The Roadway Pavement Management Pro-
gram extends the useful life of roads and reduces lifetime maintenance costs, in addition to providing a du-
rable, smooth, and safer wearing surface.
Timeline
This is an ongoing and routine program. After completing the overlay projects on Twin Dolphin Drive and
on segments of Chestnut Street, Middlefield Road, and Spring Street. Design of the next overlay project will
start in spring 2020 to align with construction this summer.
Operational Impacts
As a maintenance project, this would reduce operational costs by avoiding increased costs due to deferred
maintenance.
