A weeks long "slow" like this would mean daily people walking in the street, children running
after each other and toys, and children riding bicycles in the middle of the street. Once children get the
idea this is safe they will do it without thinking all the time. It is scary to think about how dangerous this is.
Second, my husband and I are health care workers and we have to drive daily to and from our jobs. My
son has health issues which require weekly doctors visits (allergy shots for example) and he does much
grocery shopping for the family. Street closures are hugely inconvenient for drivers without the added
issue of little ones believing the street is safe for play.
Third, I live on the portion of Page that was impacted by the weeks long closure by PG&E and the
subsequent sidewalk repairs. During this time we did not receive several deliveries. I notice that the
Redwood City Newsletter stated that deliveries would not be impacted but, as this has never been done
before, we have to rely on evidence of the impact by the other street closures that deliveries will, in fact
be interrupted.
Fourth, I think the majority of people who will be affected by this are not even aware of it. I think people
who live on these streets should be notified by mail and I think a vote should be taken. The vote should
be of the people living on the streets impacted.
What you are proposing is different then a holiday block party of a couple of hours and the results could
be tragic. All because a few people have difficulty with social distancing.
This virus and its impact are disturbing enough. Please don't make it worse.
Whitney and Luis Trucios
3109 Page St.
