As you have likely seen, the City
Council will be hearing a staff report presentation at it's meeting tonight on a potential Phase I
implementation of a Slow Streets Program. The initial phase could include 11 street segments
geographically distributed throughout the community and based on specific criteria such as housing
density, communities of concern where access to private and public open space is limited, traffic
volumes etc. The streets would not be closed but rather signage would be posted that the public is
accessing the street's right of way during the shelter in place order. Emergency vehicle access,
access to residences and deliveries would still be permitted. The Cities of San Mateo and Palo Alto
are also considering similar measures.
I hope you will consider joining us for tonight's Council meeting as we discuss this item. You can
stream us live at www. redwood city.org. In the meantime, may you and your family stay healthy and
safe.
In community spirit,
Diane Howard
Mayor of Redwood City
(650)208-4774
From: AL <ashlee_lim@yahoo.com>
Sent: Friday, April 24, 2020 11:13 PM
To: PublicComment <publiccomment@redwoodcity.org>; GRP -City Council
<council@redwoodcity.org>
Subject: follow-up
Dear City Council,
First and foremost, thank you for all that you are doing in this time of uncertainty and world
health crisis. I am writing you today about 2 things that came to my attention as a follow-up to
the City Council meeting:
1) I am a resident of Redwood City and my home is located in Redwood Shores.
I understand that the City Council had discussed the possibility of closing down Bridge
Parkway in Redwood Shores to vehicle traffic. As a homeowner who depends on using Bridge
Parkway to get to any of the necessary essential services including groceries, pharmacy, gas
stations, etc, I want to let you know how much disruption and confusion this would cause me
& my family and my neighborhood as a whole.
I am not sure what or who would bring this idea to the table to the City Council but please
understand that in our world today with shelter in place order where uncertainty and confusion
are the norm, we need less confusion and easier access - not the other way around.
