' <br /> <br />This program responds to Funding Priority B2 and in part Funding Priority B 1. The program provides safety net services <br />including the provision of temporary shelter and other related supportive services to single homeless adults. It also <br />extends our county's emergency shelter services by bridging individuals into the emergency shelter and transitional <br />housing program encompassed by Funding Priority B 1. <br /> <br />3. Organizational Mission. Describe your organizational mission. <br /> <br />The mission statement of the Fair Oaks Community Center Information and Referral Program is: "The Human Services <br />Unit of the Fair Oaks Community Center is a team of compassionate and committed individuals that supports, educates, <br />empowers, and serves as a bridge to resources for families and individuals in the communities we serve." More <br />specifically related to the Early Entry Shelter Program, the Fair Oaks Community Center and the City of Redwood City <br />have made a conunitment to actively participate in the implementation ofthe HOPE 10 year plan to end Homelessness. <br /> <br />4. Outreach. Describe your program's outreach efforts to ensure that the services are made known to all <br />persons of need. <br /> <br />Outreach for the Early Entry Shelter Program will be conducted as a part of the outreach for the Fair Oaks Community <br />Center Information and Referral Program, This is done in a variety of ways: <br /> <br />_ As one of the seven Core Service Agencies, the FairOaks Community Center's services are advertised through the <br />distribution of flyers or brochures about the Core Services Network throughout the county - primarily through the various <br />offices of the Human Services Agency and other service providers throughout the county. <br />_ FOCC's services are advertised in the Redwood City Activity Guide which is sent to every household with a Redwood <br />City mailing address (including unincorporated North Fair Oaks households) four times a year. <br />_ FOCe's services are also advel1ised on the Redwood City website. <br />_ Media/Publicity - Although we did not engage in targetted media outreach over the past year, an article about the Early <br />Entry Shelter Pilot Program did appear in the San Mateo County Times in March 2007. <br />_ Additionally, the services are regularly promoted at the Redwood City quarterly human service agency network <br />meetings; with ongoing social service partners including the RWC Family Resource Centers and other emergency services <br />providers; through flyers distributed through tbe local schools; and by our very own clients and partner agencies - as they <br />refer others to our services. <br /> <br />This past year, we also provided trainings for all of the Redwood City police about the homeless services available at the <br />Fair Oaks Community Center and created a homeless services card for police officers and other Redwood City employees <br />to distribute when they come across homeless individuals in our community in the course of their daily work. <br /> <br /> <br />of each month) <br /> <br />6.
