Child care is an essential need for children and families, and it will continue to be the backbone of our economy both
during and after this crisis, but only if funding is provided to keep it afloat. In order to protect and preserve our child
care system for child care providers, workers, and the children and families they serve, we urge you to provide aid
targeted to your constituents in the child care sector.
We hope you will keep in mind the following opportunities to support Redwood City's child care system:
• Direct funds to the COWD-19 alolCmeProject(a regional program of Silicon Valley Community Foundation) to
preserve the supply of child care in San Mateo County. httos://www.siliconvalleyd.org/childcare-response
• Allocate CDBG funds to child care providers. For example, the City of San Mateo voted to designate $120,000 of
their $440,000 contribution to Samaritan House for home-based child care provider rental assistance.
We ask for your support and thank you for your ongoing invaluable leadership. We stand ready to assist you to
support children and families in the City of Redwood City. We are already working with our partners to address this
crisis.
