6.A. - Page 5 of 17 <br />G. This ordinance offers a minimal preference to local businesses for the purchase of goods. <br />Such minimal preference mitigates the fact that local businesses which seek to enter into <br />contracts with the City are at a competitive disadvantage with businesses from other areas <br />because of the higher administrative costs of doing business in the City (e.g. rising costs of <br />living, rising property values and corresponding rents, and rising labor costs on certain <br />employers as a result of the minimum wage ordinance). Additionally, the minimal preference <br />is in the public interest as it encourages businesses to remain in the City. <br />Section 2. Article VII of Chapter 2 of the Redwood City Code is hereby repealed in its <br />entirety. <br />Section 3. The ordinance table of contents and the text in brackets are not ordinance <br />text and therefore should not be published as part of the Redwood City Code. <br />Section 4.
