8.A. - Page 26 of 28 <br />Reimagine SamTrans (District) <br />Summary <br />In summer 2019, the District launched Reimagine SamTrans, a comprehensive operational <br />analysis (COA) of the SamTrans bus system. Reimagine SamTrans will evaluate each SamTrans <br />bus route, as well as the entire bus system, in light of changing travel patterns and mobility needs <br />in San Mateo County. <br />Goals <br />• Improve the experience for existing SamTrans customers <br />• Grow new and more frequent ridership on SamTrans <br />• Build SamTrans' efficiency and effectiveness as a mobility provider <br />Outcomes <br />Reimagine SamTrans will: <br />• Understand existing operational and ridership conditions for each route and system wide <br />• Hear from existing riders and potential riders in San Mateo County <br />• Set a vision and guidelines for how SamTrans allocates resources, designs bus routes <br />and measures success <br />• Combine data, best practices, and input from the community <br />Evaluate the potential for new service models and pilot programs <br />• Build on what is working well today and identify ways to improve <br />• Recommend route, system or vehicle size changes to improve ridership and efficiency <br />• Improve reliability and connections to other regional mobility providers <br />Key Decisions or Technical Work Needed to Advance <br />Route alternatives will be developed in spring/summer of 2020 and a preferred alternative will be <br />developed in fall 2020. The preferred alternative will detail the individual route design and service <br />parameters for the route network; additional scheduling and run -cutting work completed by mid - <br />2021 will determine the phase one bus bay requirements for both revenue and non -revenue <br />service in Redwood City. <br />Additional phases of expanded SamTrans services will be outlined in the Reimagine <br />implementation plan. <br />Funding <br />The bus service network funding is provided through the District budget and additional expanded <br />services may be funded through Federal, State, regional and local sources. <br />REV: 05-07-2020 PR <br />ATTY/AGR.2020.071/SMCTA and JPB (Page 21 of 23) 189 <br />
