6.G. Resolution calling the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election to fill four <br />City Council vacancies in Council districts 1, 3, 4, and 7; resolution requesting <br />the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors to consolidate said election with <br />the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election and authorize the City <br />Clerk to execute a services agreement with the County to provide election <br />services; resolution adopting regulations for candidates for elective office <br />pertaining to candidate statements submitted to the voters; and, by motion, <br />requiring candidates to pay for the candidate statement costs <br />Recommendation: <br />By motion, adopt resolutions related to the General Municipal Election of <br />November 3, 2020 as follows: <br />1. Resolution calling for holding of a General Municipal Election on November 3, <br />2020 for the election of four municipal officers (City Councilmembers) required <br />by the City's Charter and the laws of the State of California; <br />2. Resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo to <br />consolidate a General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, <br />2020 with the Presidential General Election; and requesting the County of San <br />Mateo to render specified services to the City and authorizing the City Clerk to <br />execute a contract with the County for such services; <br />3. Resolution adopting regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining <br />to statements submitted to the voters at an election to be held on Tuesday, <br />November 3, 2020; and <br />4. By motion, require candidates to make a deposit in an amount to be <br />determined by the County Elections Office to cover estimated candidate <br />statement printing and translation costs. <br />CEQA: <br />This is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) <br />6.H. Adopt City Council position on state legislation, specifically: AB 2553 (Ting); AB <br />3308 (Gabriel); SB 793 (Hill); and SB 1441 (McGuire) <br />Recommendation: <br />By motion, the City Council Governance Sub -Committee recommends the City <br />Council adopt support positions for AB 2553 (Ting); AB 3308 (Gabriel); SB 793 <br />(Hill); SB 1441 (McGuire); and allow staff to continue to engage on said <br />legislation. <br />CEQA: <br />This is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) <br />Page 5of9 <br />
