8.B. - Page 1 of 142 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: June 8, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Compensation Adjustments for the City Manager and City Attorney for 2019, Amendments to the City's <br />Classification and Wage and Salary Plan to update the salary ranges to incorporate 2019 cost of living <br />adjustment for the City Manager and City Attorney and 2020 and 2021 cost of living adjustments for other <br />City employees, and Amendments to the Executive Management Summary of Benefits to update captured <br />classifications and executive benefits <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing the Mayor to execute the fourth amendment to the <br />employment agreement for the City Manager to provide for adjustment to salary; <br />2. Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing the Mayor to execute the third amendment to the <br />employment agreement for the City Attorney to provide for adjustment to salary; and <br />3. Adopt a resolution amending the City's Classification and Salary Plan to update the salary ranges for <br />the City Manager, City Attorney, and classifications in Executive Management, Service Employees <br />International Union Local 521, Redwood City Management Employees' Association, Confidential, <br />Police Supervisors' Association, and Chief Officers' Association, and amending the Executive <br />Management Summary of Benefits. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City strives to maintain a compensation structure that provides salaries and benefits that are <br />competitive within the labor market to attract and retain highly qualified employees.
