9.A. - Page 1 of 21 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />\:3aAW <br />DATE: June 8, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget study session and setting the date for the public hearing and adoption of the <br />recommended budget <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Receive and provide direction regarding the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Recommended Budget; and adopt a <br />Resolution setting June 22, 2020 as the date for the public hearing on and adoption of the Fiscal Year <br />2020-21 Budget, directing copies of the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Recommended Budget to be filed with the <br />City Clerk, and authorizing and directing the City Clerk to publish notice of the availability of the Fiscal Year <br />2020-21 Recommended Budget and the date of the public hearing. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />In accordance with the City Charter, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-21 City of Redwood City Recommended <br />Budget is submitted for the City Council's consideration. The Recommended Budget was developed <br />amidst an extraordinarily challenging time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with many unknowns and <br />uncertainty. The Recommended Budget incorporates the financial and community recovery strategy <br />conceptually approved by the City Council at the May 4, 2020 City Council meeting and addresses the City <br />Council's strategic priorities and guiding principles established in the Strategic Plan.
