Adopt a resolution ratifying a Proclamation by the Director of Emergency Services allowing temporary <br />outdoor dining on public and private property during the Covid-19 emergency; and <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the temporary closure of City streets to allow for outdoor dining during <br />the Covid-19 Emergency, seven days a week, until September 30, 2020. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Economic Vitality <br />BACKGROUND <br />The County's Shelter in Place (SIP) order was revised June 6, 2020 to allow outdoor dining with safety <br />measures and other restrictions to ensure social distancing. At the June 8 City Council meeting, staff <br />presented a conceptual approach for supporting expanded outdoor restaurant dining citywide because <br />of the serious economic impacts COVID 19 has created for restaurants. Many Bay Area cities are <br />reimagining their use of their public space for outdoor dining to enable restaurants to provide sufficient <br />social distancing for the safety of their employees and the public. <br />A task force comprised of the City's economic development partners (the Chamber of Commerce, <br />Downtown Business Group (DBG), the Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA) and RCIA's <br />consultant, New City America, developed a Post-COVID-19 Mitigation Strategy.
