6.D. - Page 1 of 13 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: June 22, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Approval of easement limiting construction on a portion of the property located at 860 Charter Street <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve an easement agreement with Tranente One LLC limiting construction on a portion of <br />the property located at 860 Charter Street, and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Economic Vitality <br />BACKGROUND <br />860 Charter Street is a property consisting of two lots. The existing building is situated on the lot with <br />assessor's parcel number 054-081-140 while the parking for the existing building is located on an adjacent <br />lot with assessor's parcel number 054-081-010. The lot with the building is within Redwood City's <br />jurisdiction and the lot with the parking is within San Mateo County's jurisdiction. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Tranente One LLC, a California limited liability company, is the owner of 860 Charter Street and submitted <br />a building permit application (B19-1833), to the City to remodel the existing building. The remodel <br />proposes a change in use that requires Fire Department access to the building and clearance for any <br />building opening or exit pathway from the building. Due to the adjacent parcel with parking being in San <br />Mateo County's jurisdiction, there is a possibility that the lot could be sold and developed in the future, <br />eliminating Fire Department access and exit pathways from the building.
