I have been a resident of Redwood City for thirty-two years. In
December of 2018, the Redwood City Police Department was called to help Kyle Hart, a
friend and a neighbor that was going through a mental health crisis. He ended up dead
after being shot by a 20 -year veteran officer of the RCPD. In my opinion. the incident must
not have ended so tragically. I know the RCPD has since tried to improve the way they
handle calls involving mental health illnesses but still have seen people who are obviously
having mental health problems being miss -treated and threatened with lethal force
(specifically Latinos, African Americans, and the homeless). Therefore I am demanding that
instead of giving FORTY-NINE million dollars to the RCPD you allocate most of those funds
to programs that prevent crime such as affordable housing, community services, and non -
police response teams.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Alfredo Chorro
715 Lincoln Ave.
Redwood City, CA 94061
650 796 5713
