6.A. - Page 1 of 11
/<;;ik
Redwood
CityI California
Founded tet
\:ZWW
DATE: June 22, 2020
SUBJECT
iTAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
FY 2019-20 year-end budget amendments primarily related to COVID-19
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution appropriating certain funds to conform the budgeted amounts to estimated revenues
or expenditures for transactions primarily related to COVID-19 that have occurred or are anticipated to
occur during FY 2019-20.
STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Excellence in Government Operations
BACKGROUND
The City Council takes many actions throughout the fiscal year to modify the current fiscal year's Adopted
Budget. In addition, as staff monitors actual revenues and expenditures during the fiscal year, projections
are updated and budget amendments are proposed as appropriated.
On March 12, 2020, the City Council proclaimed a local emergency as a result of COVID-19. Since then,
City operations and focus have dramatically shifted. As a result of COVID-19 and its impact on the local
economy, the City's financial situation has drastically changed. The unprecedented economic shutdown
due to COVID-19 was almost completely unforeseen, unmatched in its swiftness and has, almost
overnight, changed all physical, economic and social activity for the world, the nation, the state of
California, and the City of Redwood City.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
