06/08/2020 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15848 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY <br />OF SAN MATEO CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020, WITH THE <br />PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION; AND REQUESTING COUNTY <br />TO RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO CITY; AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY FOR <br />SUCH SERVICES <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City called a General <br />Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for the purpose of the <br />electing of four (4) full time Members of the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable that the General Municipal Election be consolidated with <br />the Presidential General Election to be held on the same date and that within the City the <br />precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that <br />the county election department of the County of San Mateo canvass the returns of the <br />General Municipal Election and that the election be held in all respects as if there were <br />only one election; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to perform such service, the County requires that the City <br />enter into a contract specifying the services to be performed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That pursuant to the requirements of California Election Code section <br />10403, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo is hereby requested to <br />consent and agree to the consolidation of a General Municipal Election with the <br />Presidential General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for the purpose of electing <br />four (4) City Council Members for the term of office of four years each; and that the County <br />Election Department is requested to render services to the City related to the conduct of <br />the election. <br />2. That the consolidated election will be held and conducted in a manner <br />prescribed in California Election Code section 10418. <br />3.
