6.3D <br /> Page 3 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTI�N APPROVING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE 4� <br /> � LIBRARY FURNITURE FR4M PURCHASING AGENCtES AND FROM <br /> SINGLE SOURCES ONlY AS SPECIFIED FOR EACH INDtViDUAL <br /> ITEM IN THE FURNITURE PLAN SPECIFICATlONS FaR AN AMOUNT <br /> N�T TO EXCEED $500,000 AND SUSPENDING THE REQUlRE�AENTS <br /> QF ARTtCLE Vfl, PURCHASING, OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPA� <br /> CODE RELATING TO C4MPE71TIVE BIDDING FOR TH1S PURCHASE <br /> WHEREAS, the Redwood Shores Community Library project has been provided <br /> with a furniture plan for the interior environment prepared by architectura! firm Anderson <br /> Brufe; <br /> WHEREAS, the Califomia Office of Library Construction has approved the <br /> furniture pfan and furnishings; <br /> WHEREAS, some of these items are available at volume discounts through <br /> purchasing agencies, such as U.S. Communities, Nationai tPA, and GMAS, that have <br /> alrsady pre-qualified items for purchase by public agencies; <br /> WHEREAS, some of the furnishings that are desired are of such a unique nature <br /> and exclusive design that they are avaiEable from a single source only, as stated for <br /> each individuaf item in the fumiture pian specifications; <br /> WHEREAS, the schedufe for interior furnishings and the furniture plan is <br /> complefie and staff is prepared to proceed with the purchase and placement af <br /> furnishings for the new library; <br /> WHEREAS, th� Ciiy Cauneii approved the furniture plan, an fiie and made <br /> available at the Office of the City C1erk, and incorporated herein by this reference, that <br /> was presented to the City Council at their meeting on February 25, 2Q08. <br /> NOW, THERE�ORE; BE {T RES�LVED BY THE COUNCtL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOQ CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The recitafs set fortf� above are true and correct and are hereby <br /> incorporated by this reference as if fully set fiorth in their antirety. <br /> 2. Pursuant ta Redwood City Code Section 2.76, the requirements af Article Vti, <br /> PURGHASING, af Chapter 2 of the Redwood City Code relating to competitive bidding are <br /> suspended #ar this purchase. <br /> 3. Strict compliance with Article II, Chapter 2 of the Redwood City cade would not <br /> serve the public interest because the library furnishings that are purchased thraugh purchasing <br /> agencies have been competi#ively salicited by a lead public ju�isdiction in accordance with their <br /> Atty/Reso/Reso.1792 <br /> 020808 <br />
