7 <br /> RE P O RT Page 1 <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Counci! <br /> From #he Cit Mana er <br /> Fe6ruary 25, 2008 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Review of City Counci( Priorities <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Review current City Council priorities and reach consensus on desired adjustments and <br /> changes, and provide direction to staff for prepara#ion of the Fiscal Year 2Q08/09/10 <br /> budget. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Ci#y Council has a long-estabfished practice of reviewing and revising their <br /> "priorities" which guide poficy decisions and the staff's presentation of budgets wi#h <br /> which to execute Cauncil's priorities and policies. The pattern of review is normaliy tied <br /> to the two-year cycle set by Council elections and reorganizations (at the beginning of <br /> even-numbered calendar years), with two-year budgets for the following two fiscal <br /> years. The 2008 session will be #acilitated by Marilyn Manning and supported by the <br /> executive management team. <br /> Advance materials being provided far prepa�a#ian for - and use in — the review session <br /> are as foilows, and are attached herein: <br /> 1. Results of Community Input Meetings on Counci! Priorities, compiled by Magda <br /> Gonza{ez, Deputy City Manager <br /> 6.
