R E S O L U T I O N N 0. <br />CGM:bc:7/31/79 <br />ORIGINAL <br />8359 AU G 6 1979 <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 2 OF RULE IX OF, AND <br />SECTION 7 OF RULE X OF, THE PERSONNEL RULES AND <br />REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING <br />TO ELIGIBILITY TESTS FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE <br />OFFICER <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. Section 2 of Rule IX of the Personnel Rules and Regula- <br />tions of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read <br />as follows: <br />"Section 2 Effective Dates: Eligible lists shall con- <br />tinue in effect one year after establishment. They may be <br />extended for a period of not to exceed one year or abolished <br />before the expiration of the yearly period by the Personnel <br />Officer upon recommendation of the department head of the <br />department to which the classification or position relating <br />to the eligible list is allocated. Notwithstanding the <br />foregoing, eligible lists for the position of police officer <br />shall continue in effect for a period not to exceed ninety <br />days." <br />2. Section 7 of Rule X of the Personnel Rules and Regula- <br />tions of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read <br />as follows: <br />"Section 7 Original Appointment: In the event it is <br />necessary to fill a vacancy by original appointment the <br />Personnel Officer shall certify to the Department Head, <br />the three names at the top of the eligible list for that <br />class or in the event of two or more vacancies in one class, <br />he shall certify the names of eligibles to the number of <br />two or more than the number of vacancies. He shall certify <br />in addition, the names next in order on the eligible list <br />to replace that of each certified eligible who is unwilling <br />
