6.B. - Page 1 of 9 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: August 10, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Short term license agreement for use of the National Guard Armory building while completing the <br />purchase of the Armory building from the State of California <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a two month license agreement with the <br />California Military Department to use the National Guard Armory at Red Morton Park. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Healthy Community for All <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 13, 2020, the City Council approved the Purchase Agreement between the State of California and <br />the City of Redwood City, to acquire the National Guard Armory, located within Red Morton Park. Since <br />2015, the City has held a License Agreement with the State of California to use the Armory for community <br />recreation purposes, and increased the number of parking spaces for the park and adjacent playground. <br />The City Council has authorized the renewal of the yearly License Agreement with the last one expiring on <br />July 31, 2020. <br />The City is currently in the escrow process to complete the acquisition of the Armory, and it is expected <br />to be completed within the next 60 days. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />34 <br />
