From: Marcelene Luna
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Specula City Council Meeting August 24, 2020
Date: Monday, August 24, 2020 3:34:50 PM
I wish to make a public comment on agenda item 7.A.
Approval of Temporary Recreational Vehicle Safe ParkingProgram and introduction of ordinance amending Chapter
20, Article VII Of the Redwood City Municipal Cose relating to parking of vehicles and repealing provisions
prohibited sleeping or living in a vehicle.
I think it's great the city is allocating a space for people that are unhoused and living in their cars or RVs. However
the proposed space will only accommodate 30-50 when it's a known fact that the need for RV support in our
community is much greater. Your own assessment has determined that this has been caused due to our city's lack of
affordable , stable permanent housing and insufficient access to social services.
Your proposed parking ordinance amendments punishes people for being poor and exceptions continue to be made
to laws that protect the residents with means and money to obtain permits that allow them to have their boats, RVs
and campers in front of their resident.
Do not penalize people for being unhoused and poor while they sleep in their vehicles or RVs.
Sincerely,
Marcelene Luna
Sent from my Whone
