11AXINVE
EDEN
HOUSING
August 28, 2019
Mayor Howard, Vice Mayor Masur, and Honorable Council Members,
First and foremost, we want to extend a deep appreciation for the energy, effort, leadership, and
compassion that the Council, City Staff, and the community have shown during these unprecedented
times.
Given this moment in time, we appreciate the value in revisiting Redwood City's priorities. We also
recognize that since we last met in February, there has been limited public discussion or activity on the
Transit District planning process. We understand that Staff will have gathered enough information by
early next year to present to Council; however, in the interim we want to emphasize Lowe, Eden Housing,
and our landowners' continued commitment to this project and to the public process. Over the past
several months we have been working closely with our team and City staff - in anticipation of the City's
upcoming Transit District community outreach. We are excited to be part of this important process.
While we await community input, we have also been working to incorporate feedback from the Council
meeting in February and past community meetings into our latest designs. The Transit District and
Sequoia Station together provide a once in a generation opportunity to address the City's
transportation, open space and the pedestrian connections and experience from the neighborhoods,
across the tracks and into the core downtown entertainment and shopping district. Together with much
needed affordable and market rate housing, activated retail, and economically beneficial jobs, this
opportunity can help Redwood City's address important priorities in the short term, and for decades to
come.
As such, we are working hard to include more housing and the much anticipated Caltrain track expansion
into our site design, all while conforming to DTPP standards. We continue to include youth and family -
focused activities in our vision. While we look forward to sharing our refocused thoughts with the
community for their feedback, we first want to hear more from stakeholders during the City's public
outreach process.
We look forward to public outreach commencing, and to continuing our work with the community and
the City Council on this exciting opportunity. We are committed to the project and process and want to
be sure that the Transit District and the redevelopment of Sequoia Station remains a high priority for the
Council.
Thank you and please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.
Lowe
Alan Chamorro
Senior Vice President
Eden Housing
Andrea Osgood
Vice President of Real Estate Development
