This discussion will aid staff in meeting evolving community needs, planning for City
Council meetings and developing the Revised FY 2020/21 Budget to be presented at the City Council
meeting on October 26, 2020.
The City Council adopted the current Strategic Plan on January 13, 2020, following months of work by a
City Council Ad Hoc Committee (Councilmembers Aguirre, Hale, and Masur). The Strategic Plan included
new Vision and Mission statements, identified multi-year Strategic Priorities, and established Guiding
Principles to guide City operations and initiatives. The City Council affirmed that their Strategic Priorities
of Housing, Transportation and Children and Youth would continue, and noted that Strategic Priorities
typically would endure for more than one year, as implementation of goals to advance these Priorities
was expected to require multiple years of effort.
The City Council determined that the Council would meet annually, typically in February, to set or reaffirm
Strategic Priorities in the Strategic Plan. Activities to advance the City Council's Strategic Priorities are
provided in Attachment A.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
3
