STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE Excellence in Government Operations BACKGROUND On July 27, 2020, the City Council introduced the proposed ordinance and took additional action related to aligning Boards, Commissions, and Committees (BCCs) with the BCC Attendance Policy and relevant sections of the City Charter. Attachment A provides the staff report provided to the City Council. Regulatory and advisory Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCCs) play an important role in supporting the City Council and City staff on a wide variety of issues that are important to the quality of life of Redwood City residents. The scope of their work, and the manner in which they are required to operate, is set forth by various resolutions and ordinances that have been enacted over the years. Provisions of these guiding documents can change over time depending on the nature of the work being conducted and the functional needs of each body. There have been several recent actions taken by Council and Redwood City voters that impact BCCs on an administrative level. Not all of these actions have been reflected in the guiding documents.
