large trucks in the area to move slower and requiring more space for wide <br />turns. <br />Peter Hughes, a 50 -year resident of Redwood City, stated his support for the <br />project as a great addition for Redwood City. <br />Fred Grosser stated that he used to work in the Marina office complex and <br />that he supports the project. He commended the Planning Department for its <br />public process in informing the community and incorporating their comments. <br />He stated his belief that there is strong community support for the project. <br />Gloria Arteaga, a life -long resident of Redwood City, stated her belief that <br />this project will be a great addition to Redwood City, especially along <br />Broadway in maintaining a small town feel and providing lots of activities. <br />Victor Torreano, a resident of Redwood City and a sheet metal worker, <br />stated his belief that this will be a great project but that he does not want to <br />see any retail there. As a union representative, he stated his appreciation for <br />the developer's commitment to provide provisions for union benefits. He <br />stated his thanks to Council and staff for their measured approach and work <br />on the project. <br />Andy Frisch commended Council for what everyone else had said thus far <br />about the project. He stated that the process for this project has set a high <br />standard on the community outreach process. <br />Kamran Mahrouzadeh, a 27 -year Redwood City businessman, stated his <br />support for the Peninsula Park project as a great move in helping the whole <br />City with the housing market. <br />Steve Raney (with time donated by Dennis Blatchford) stated that he wanted <br />to focus on the traffic - reduced housing for the Peninsula Park project. He <br />showed a presentation on a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency suburban <br />sustainability study with a focus on the Bay Area that he was the lead <br />researcher on (on file). They want to provide priority access to new housing <br />for green commuters and reduce green house gases at the rate of three tons <br />of CO2 emissions per home per year. He stated that Mr. Powers, the <br />developer, volunteered to pioneer this innovative project, from a Cool Cities' <br />perspective, in getting people to move closer to jobs and be green <br />commuters. <br />Laura Biche, an almost 20 -year resident of Redwood City, stated her <br />concern that children will not be able to live locally but will have to move <br />away.
