8.A. - Page 45 of 61 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE GENERAL PLAN IN <br />CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT AT 901, 947, AND 999 EL CAMINO <br />REAL AND 2529 BROADWAY <br />WHEREAS, Kenson Ventures (the "Applicant") has submitted an application to <br />construct a mixed-use office, residential, and teen center at 901, 947, and 999 EI Camino <br />Real and 2529 Broadway (the "Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to allow an increase <br />in the maximum allowable development for office development and residential units in the <br />Downtown (the "General Plan Amendment"); and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Code Section 18.61 provides that the City Council <br />may adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the General Plan; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the initiation of amendments to the General Plan will provide City staff <br />the direction to begin analysis of the proposed General Plan Amendment and does not <br />constitute nor imply approval of any project entitlements. Once the amendment process <br />is initiated, City staff may move forward with the Project review, including environmental <br />review and the public outreach process. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. The City Council hereby initiates proceedings for the General Plan <br />Amendment. This initiation does not constitute approval of the General Plan <br />Amendment or assure any particular action on the General Plan Amendment by the <br />City Council. The Planning Commission and City Council will consider the General Plan <br />Amendment in their discretion, along with the other requested project entitlements and <br />in accordance with the City's project review process. <br />3. The Applicant shall submit a complete application for project entitlements in <br />accordance with applicable law and City procedures, including but not limited to State <br />law, the City Code and the Zoning Ordinance, within two years of the effective date of <br />this resolution, otherwise this initiation shall be considered null and void. <br />ATTY/RESO.0102/CC RESO GPAI FOR 901 EL CAMINO REAL <br />REV: 10-07-2020 PR <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />312 <br />
