From our housing counseling work in San Mateo County, we know that many Redwood City families, especially families with children and adults with developmental disabilities, are struggling daily with the challenges of living in overcrowded, high-cost housing under constant threat of displacement from their home community. I hope these families will be uppermost in your thoughts as you make this critical decision whether to allow the 2300 Broadway/609 Price project to proceed to initiation of the planning process. We understand staffs concerns with workload. However, the benefits of this project to the city's residents for the next 55 years greatly outweigh the more immediate concerns of staff workload that were described in the staff report. We hope you will work with staff to address workload priorities so that this important project can move forward.
