4. Caltrain Almost all the above developments cite the closeness to Caltrain as a means of transportation. Before the pandemic Caltrains was having problems meeting the needs of the residents on the peninsula corridor. Caltrains is now struggling to survive with the pandemic (hence the measure on the ballot) so Caltrain is sadly in a precarious position. It is either woefully short of train cars or now woefully short of passengers and funding. Either way this directly impacts the expected builds. • If the Caltrain station were to move further south one would assume shuttles might be added to accommodate the move for people living downtown but I believe one needs to consider if our roads, parking and transportation can handle the additional demands unfortunately all while not understand exactly what the footprint post COVID. 5. Zero lot lines in from of all the builds and many are too tall • Almost every neighbor I've talked with don't like the zero lot lines for these very sizable commercial builds. They wish more would be done to lower the profile to at least create the appearance of a less downtown San Jose feel. In addition, they all prefer a lower profile. Most are aghast as the 6-8 story profiles. With the above, I caution a race to readily pass each of the above proposal as I think it barely starts to address the affordable housing issue and there is quite a bit of uncertainty at this time. Once passed, we can't undo what has been done should the environment change. Specifically regarding, the Wells Fargo build. Part of the charm of Redwood City has in been the more open feel, the larger redwood trees, the quirky diagonal streets. Chopping off one of the main streets which adds greenery and character to the downtown will be lost. I urge you to revisit this plan and please rethink the other plans. I feel most are much too tall and too large or the uncertain times we're in and they aren't addressing the underlying needs adequately enough. I'm all for the housing for the veterans.
