10/12/2020 RESOLUTION NO. 15892 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE GENERAL PLAN IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT AT 651 EL CAMINO REAL WHEREAS, Republic Metropolitan, LLC (the "Applicant") has submitted an application to construct a mixed-use residential project at 651 EI Camino Real (the "Project"); and WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to allow an increase in the maximum allowable development for units in the Downtown (the "General Plan Amendment"); and WHEREAS, Redwood City Code Section 18.61 provides that the City Council may adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the General Plan; and WHEREAS, the initiation of amendments to the General Plan will provide City staff the direction to begin analysis of the proposed General Plan Amendment and does not constitute nor imply approval of any project entitlements. Once the amendment process is initiated, City staff may move forward with the Project review, including environmental review and the public outreach process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. Section 2. The City Council hereby initiates proceedings for the General Plan Amendment. This initiation does not constitute approval of the General Plan Amendment or assure any particular action on the General Plan Amendment by the City Council. The Planning Commission and City Council will consider the General Plan Amendment in their discretion, along with the other requested project entitlements and in accordance with the City's project review process. Section 3. The Applicant shall submit a complete application for project entitlements in accordance with applicable law and City procedures, including but not limited to State law, the City Code and the Zoning Ordinance, within two years of the effective date of this resolution, otherwise this initiation shall be considered null and void.
