10/12/2020 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15893 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE GENERAL PLAN IN <br />CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT AT 505 EAST BAYSHORE ROAD <br />WHEREAS, Sares Regis Group (the "Applicant") has submitted an application to <br />redevelop the property located at 505 East Bayshore Road with a housing development <br />project (the "Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to designate the <br />property Mixed Use -Waterfront Neighborhood (the "General Plan Amendment"), and a <br />Zoning Ordinance Amendment to designate the property Mixed -Use Waterfront in the <br />Zoning Map (the "Zoning Ordinance Amendment"), as part of the entitlements for the <br />Project. The General Plan Amendment and the Zoning Ordinance Amendment are <br />collectively referred to as the "Amendments;" and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Code Section 18.61 provides that the City Council may <br />adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the General Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Zoning Ordinance Section 49.2(A) provides that the <br />City Council may adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the <br />Zoning Ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's policy is to bundle all related requests and have them acted <br />upon by the highest approval authority, in this case being the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the initiation of amendments to the General Plan and Zoning <br />Ordinance provides City staff the direction to begin analysis of the proposed General <br />Plan Amendment and Zoning Ordinance Amendment and does not constitute nor imply <br />approval of any project entitlements. Once the amendment process is initiated, the City <br />may move forward with the environmental review and public outreach process for the <br />Project. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. The City Council hereby initiates proceedings to ammnd the General Plan and <br />ATTY/RES0.0099/CC RESO FOR GPAI FOR 505 EAST BAYSHORE <br />REV: 10-07-2020 PR <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />RESO.
