10/12/2020 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15894 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY DENYING THE INITIATION OF PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE <br />GENERAL PLAN IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT AT <br />797 ARGUELLO STREET <br />WHEREAS, Herring & Worley Inc. (the "Applicant") has submitted an application <br />to redevelop the properties located at 797 Arguello Street with two new housing units <br />above existing commercial space (the "Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to designate the <br />property Mixed Use -Transitional (the "General Plan Amendment") ; and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City Code Section 18.61 provides that the City Council may <br />adopt a resolution of intention to initiate proceedings to amend the General Plan. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. The City Council hereby denies the initiation of proceedings for the General <br />Plan Amendment. <br />3. The City shall not accept reapplication of the same General Plan Amendment <br />or a substantially similar General Plan Amendment within two years of the adoption of <br />this resolution. This time limit will allow the City to continue to process long-range policy <br />initiatives before deciding on the same or substantially similar General Plan <br />Amendment requests on the same site. The Community Development and <br />Transportation Director shall determine whether a proposed reapplication filed within <br />those two years is substantially similar as the previously denied application. <br />4.
