8.A. - Page 51 of 104 <br />REDWOOD CITY STRATEGIC PLAN <br />AESiHEiiCS <br />In January 2020, the City Council adopted a Strategic Plan which established new vision and <br />mission statements and nine Guiding Principles. To address the most pressing community and <br />regional challenges, the City Council selected three Strategic Priorities: housing, <br />transportation, and children and youth (in priority order). Goals for each of the Strategic <br />Priorities focus staff activities. <br />The Guiding Principles are: Aesthetics, Community and Community Building, Economic <br />Vitality, Excellence in Government Operations, Healthy Community for All Ages, Housing, <br />Public Safety, Sustainability, and Transportation. On August 29, 2020, the City Council <br />reaffirmed these Strategic Priorities and emphasized the importance of social equity and <br />integrating diversity, equity and inclusion in the provision of all City services. On October 12, <br />2020, the City Council adopted equity as a Foundational Principle: Redwood City will put <br />equity first, urging a collective restart so that policies serve the entire community <br />STRATEGIC PRIORITIES AND GOALS 420 <br />
